We Love SoHoNYC!
One of the most notable movements to emerge from SoHo was the Fluxus movement. Led by artists such as George Maciunas , Fluxus challenged conventional notions of art by blurring the boundaries between art and life. The movement favored simplicity, interactivity, and a sense of playfulness, often incorporating everyday objects and actions into their work.
Artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring used the streets of SoHo as their canvas, creating vibrant and politically charged graffiti art that transformed the neighborhood into an outdoor art gallery.
